Karnataka High Court closes suo-motu contempt proceedings against a doctor mother, accepts her undertaking for community service for six months.

High Court of Karnataka Vs. Dr. Ekta Singh

The Karnataka High Court had initiated suo motu criminal contempt proceedings against the accused doctor after she had failed to comply with the direction to hand over the custody of the minor daughter to her husband.

The Court issued notice to the doctor in response to which she filed an affidavit stating that she was tendering her unconditional apology and assured that in future she would act in  a way that there would be no occasion for initiating any such against her.

The accused also undertook to engage herself a day every calendar month in Community Service for a period of six months in any Government Hospital.
